OK boys and girls: I give you the official links page (updated as of 11/20/02, and still under construction seeing how I'm retooling the page design). I'd like to remind you that information on how to purchase Girdler's movies is located in the Buying Girdler section. You can also take a gander at all the awards this site has won HERE. The following links represent what I think are quality sites relevant to the illustrious career of my favorite filmmaker. Note how many of these sites share one thing in common: they sport a link back to William Girdler.com. Of course, excellent judgement demonstrated by other webmasters is not my sole criterion for placing a link here. I genuinely like these sites and I think they have a lot to offer.

All links will open up in a new browser. That's because I don't want you to leave here. Stick around. Re-read the interviews. Play with the video files. And see: you can enjoy these fantastic sites without ever completely leaving William Girdler.com! If you know of a website which you think I'd enjoy, feel free to email me. Should you wish to link WG.com from your own happy site, feel free to swipe a logo graphic.

Faves

BADMOVIES.ORG: My favorite b-movie review site bar none, and one of the most popular (if not THE most popular) b-movie resources on the Internet. It also contains terrific media sections for The Manitou and Day of the Animals. The esteemed webmaster Andrew, who's quite a Girdler fan himself, covers everything from Planet of the Apes to The Day Time Ended. Sheer bliss for anyone who grew up on a schlock movie diet. Not to mention the fact the webmaster is a super nice guy ... and a Marine, so I wouldn't piss him off if I were you.

BRAINS ON FILM: I can't possibly express how much I love these guys. Brains on Film is one of the net's finest sources for drive-in trash and demented wit. These fellows make me remember how much I miss the days of UHF horror hosts. They cover all sorts of drive-in rarities as well as trash classics, with a smattering of dirty jokes for good measure. You can view episodes of the show, read reviews, and buy mugs. I help out with their message board, too. Look for a fun-as-heck Abby review. Great stuff!!

JOE BOB BRIGGS: They just don't make 'em like Joe Bob Briggs anymore. He's the only Texan I'll accept as this country's President. A writer, critic, actor, and all-around handsome devil, his work was a supreme influence on my film tastes back when I was a college coed. Joe Bob includes WG.com on his "stamp of approval" links page, a fact that still makes me feel oogly all over. I sleep easier at night knowing he digs WG.com. Not surprisingly, his website is one of the best movie sites around. Required reading for all cult movie fans ... and fans of fun journalism.

CINEFEAR.COM: Keith Crocker at Cinefear stands as an outspoken champion of the exploitation genre. Not only does he sell some of the rarest cult movies from the 60s and 70s, but he also writes about the filmmakers responsible for those oft misunderstood gems. Heck, TIME magazine even cited his Andy Milligan article recently!! This web effort is a distant cousin of the William Girdler.com family of sites, seeing how I design and maintain the website. Look for a special interview with Lee Jones collaborator Donn Davison in which he discusses his Girdler/Montoro days.

SHOCKING VIDEOS: Mark at Shocking Videos is another Girdler champion. Shocking Videos carries THE BEST versions of Zebra Killer around; on DVD-R to boot! Ask him about his widescreen Day of the Animals and other Girdler goodies while you're at it. Oh, and he also sells a jaw-dropping selection of other rare flicks, too.

THE STOMP TOKYO EMPIRE: It's said that the creators of Stomp Tokyo aim to take over the Internet, and judging by the number of sites they host, I'd have to concur. Standout satellite sites include Opposable Thumb Films and Dr. Freex's incredible Bad Movie Report. Greywizard's Unknown Movies is gold. I am obliged to like 3-B Theater best of all, purely because the author includes a review of the movie Head. Girdler items at the collective include Stomp Tokyo's Day of the Animals review and a Dante's Inferno Grizzly review. *

Gird Spots

DARK WATERS: Dark Waters remains one of the Internet's finest cult movie resources. Packed with articles, interviews, and reviews, it also features a Project Kill item. Incidentally, webmaster Jeffrey Frentzen interviewed William Girdler in 1977.

CHARTER TERMINAL: I present to you a webmistress after my own heart. Charter Terminal is a B-movie review site run by a sassy lass with a keen taste for trash. Very funny content topped off by a priceless Manitou Review.

PIMPADELIC WONDERLAND: A really snappy 70s culture site with tons of cheeky film fun to be had. Look for a cute write-up on Abby!

MONSTER ZINE: Covers a variety of classic horror topics but most importantly, fellow Abby fanatic Jerry Veneman penned a heartfelt article about our favorite exor-sister.

JAPANESE WILLIAM GIRDLER TRIBUTE PAGE: Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, and while I haven't a clue what this site says, its heart is certainly in the right place. The site lifts a few graphics from WG.com (it provides plenty of links, so that's fine) and offers some really neat Japanese posters I don't own. Whoever you are, you're my kind of guy/gal. Very cool.

BLAXPLOITATION.COM: An online resource for information on the genre. Blaxploitation.com teems with media clips, posters, a few Abby screen captures, and great links to other related sites.

SCI-FILM.ORG: Offers news, reviews, and TV picks from the horror/sci-fi genre. The site also features a lovely Day of the Animals review.

KENNY BOBB'S FILM VAULT: A super-slick trash flick site from the UK. Kenny features some short reviews of several Girdler flicks.

LAST DRIVE-IN ON THE LEFT: Features several audio clips from Abby, along with B-movie reviews, Chesty Morgan worship, and posters. My favorite aspect of this site is the kitschy old Drive-In theme music.

Lit

PSYCHOTRONIC VIDEO: Michael Weldon's Psychotronic Video FINALLY has a website. Weldon raised the bar for cult movie buffs with The Psychotronic Encyclopedia of Film, a tome that should rest of the shelf of every b-movie fanatic. The site contains interviews, back issue information, and lots of glowing skulls. If you don't own at least one of Weldon's two bible-sized books by now, you can grab the second edition at Amazon.com.

FANGORIA: Fangoria has long since served as the modern horror genre's primary source for news and information. The website presents a good bit of spiffy exclusive content, including features and reviews. Issues #216 and #217 feature a HUGE multi-part article on Girdler penned by yours truly and David Konow.

SHOCK CINEMA: My current favorite print film zine, Shock Cinema has a website with ordering information and a few archived articles. They featured a Carol Speed interview in an issue last year which touched upon Abby.

FLICKHEAD.COM: The superb content at Flickhead.com speaks for itself. Assembled by editor extraordinaire Ray Young, the high-quality interviews and articles will keep you glued to your monitor. A great read from top to bottom.

VEX MAGAZINE: Vex Magazine is a site to behold. Any website that announces "Movies Hate You" on its first page is a digital kindred spirit. Peruse the archives to read some fantastic film articles.

GRAHAM MASTERTON: The official web home of Graham Masterton, the wildly-popular author of The Manitou and many other horror novels. Check out his Interviews section to read more about Girdler's unique film adaptation.

CASHIERS DU CINEMART: The Cashiers du Cinemart website ranks as one of the most robust movie zine sites out there. They cover modern indies, old indies, and just notably cool flicks or movie personalities. All print zine website translations should be this engaging.

DVD DRIVE-IN: A news and review digest detailing the latest cult DVD releases. The site also runs campaigns directed at certain distributors who don't want to release their movie catalogs. These fine folks covered Asylum of Satan recently, and gave my audio commentary a good review.

HORROR-WOOD: Without a doubt, the Internet's most complete horror movie zine. Updated monthly, Horror Wood boasts some top-notch writing talent, including Famous Monsters alumnus Ron Waite and novelist Staci Layne Wilson. (a-hem) I also contributed a Girdler Article that's woefully out of date now.

CULT CUTS: Cult Cuts brings you all sorts of great reviews on your favorite cult stars and genres. From Psychobilly flicks to Paul Naschy, it's all there.

Films and Filmmakers

WONDER WORLD OF K.G. MURRAY: K. Gordan Murray produced and/or distributed over 60 films in the 60s and 70s, bringing many Mexican horror gems to the US (The most famous of which were The Aztec Mummy movies and Braniac). This well-written, detailed biographical site contains everything you ever wanted to know about this cult hero.

THE BLOB SITE: This excellent historical treatment of the 1958 horror classic is what sent me racing out to the 2002 Blobfest. A fine mix of facts and fun. The webmasters have even journeyed to the filming locations ... one more thing that makes this web project one of the nicest b-movie internet tributes around.

SLEEPAWAY CAMP FILMS: Whether you like the films or detest them, you have to give this talented Aussie fan credit (as well as a gal named Carrie who created the first Sleepaway site) for building up so much renewed interest in this franchise that Anchor Bay rolled out the DVD red carpet and lavished the splatter movies with love and attention. A slick new design and top-notch content makes this site a worthwhile visit for fans and non-fans alike.

RAY DENNIS STECKLER: Steckler's official website is a little bare, but then, so were his actresses. Steckler is one of my exploitation favorites and I'd be cheating him out of his due respect if I didn't link him here. I'll use this as an opportunity to say that one of the single best genre articles I've ever read was about Steckler and it was penned by the illustrious Jim Goad for his magazine Answer Me! in the early 90's. Goad remarked not long ago that if he could do AM! again, he wouldn't print any film-related interviews. Ah well.

LAIR OF THE WHITE WORM: The incredible Lair of the White Worm site was once hosted by Deadrabbit.org but now lives at Geocities. The Worm webmaster's focused obsession rivals my own. More information than you ever dreamed possible about this Ken Russell cult classic. *

TED V. MIKELS: This fellow is responsible for two of my favorite low-budget wonders (The Corpse Grinders and Blood Orgy of the She-Devils), and has directed scores of other B-gems, including the rather famous The Astro-Zombies. His official site is packed with all sorts of great biographical information, so check it out. *

MEL WELLES: The famously prolific Corman actor who, among other things, also brought us Lady Frankenstein.

DAVID HESS.COM: The website of Last House on the Left star David Hess. Lots of pics, info on his catchy tunes, a message board, and other cool stuff.

Other sites

ASTOUNDING B-MONSTER: B-Monster ranks among a very small number of websites that I feel outshine most print efforts related to the topic. If the site contained a little Girdler, it would surely assume its rightful place among my favorite online entries. I've visited this site regularly for a number of years, and you should, too.

ECCENTRIC CINEMA: The expertly designed Eccentric Cinema site features reviews, a store, and cool e-greetings. It also has great media clips from the likes of Doris Wishman and Al Adamson. Another frequent haunt of mine.

ZOMBIE KEEPER: The Zombie Keeper site boasts a great design, semi-daily content, a friendly message board, and funky contests. And of course, wall-to-wall movie reviews. There's also a special section devoted to Dead Alive with interviews, media, and photos. And unless you live under a rock, you know that Dead Alive (aka Braindead) is Peter Jackson's gore masterwork.

TRASH PALACE: A joint that will thrill and delight you with its fine selection of posters, videos, novelizations, and books. Great selection of merchandise for fans of horror, cult, blaxploitation, and foreign films.

FULCI METAL JACKET: Offers reviews and fantastic interviews with folks like Joe James and Michael J. Hein. Will somebody get this Aussie talent off Geocities, please? The content is great. *

FILM CLUB BUIO OMEGA: I've a only slight idea what Der Geheimnisvolle Filmclub Buio Omega is all about ... because it's in German. It looks like a bunch of film fanatics who screen cult classics in theatres (as the good Lord intended). They plugged WG.com in August. The site looks really cool, with an obvious focus on forgotton cult films and euro-sleaze. I just wish I understood German. Neat stuff.

COLD FUSION VIDEO: Webmaster Nathan has made it his mission to convert every man, woman, and child to the "b-movie lifestyle." Peruse the reviews and have yourself a chuckle or two. Nathan is a long-time vet of the net; he's the mastermind behind The B-Movie Mailing List and the former B-Mania.com.

SOMETHING WEIRD VIDEO: Something Weird Video has supplied genre fans with some of the rarest, most cheeserific titles ever (or never) available. Something Weird released Asylum of Satan to DVD, too. Check out the website, especially the cool spookshow page to see some Girdler collaborators in action.

NATION OF JABOOTU: These people watch the worst of the worst so you don't have to. Ken Begg's disturbingly detailed film reviews rank among the most exhaustive film commentaries I've ever read.

THE TRASH TIMES: I think this is French? The graphic design looks spectacular. I've no clue what the hell it says. I'll assume it offers fine content (along with the eye-candy) because it demonstrates excellent taste by sporting a link to this site.

VIDEO CRYPT: A very tightly crafted horror/exploitation site, Video Crypt brings you news, DVD reviews, and rare pictures of your favorite stars.

Databases

INTERNET MOVIE DATABASE: Is there anyone reading this who's NOT familiar with IMDB? The one and only online mothership for all things cinematic. They kindly placed links to WG.com in a zillion different spots. *

TRASH COMPACTOR: An attractive B-movie search engine with links to some of the best trash movie sites out there. You can add your link, too!

CARFAX ABBEY: A database of horror films, horror stars, and much much more. The Carfax Abbey webmaster says she's adding Girdler soon! *

HORRORFIND: A search engine for all things horror. Lots of Clive Barker stuff, goth poetry, and body art sites. Girdler is tucked away somewhere in the mix, too.

CRYPT CRAWL: Another database stuffed with horror film sites. Crypt Crawl bestowed its Crypt of Horror award upon WG.com in May, 2001.
